General Info
Are there extra rehearsals?
- Hits: 1875
For the regular Mass schedule, there are typically no extra rehearsals. The Sunday 3pm rehearsal is the only rehearsal for the weekly Mass at which Inspirition Band performs.
However, during special seasons such as Christmas and Easter, where there is a much larger volume of music to be performed at Mass, one or more extra rehearsals will be called. A suitable time that most band members can attend will be determined for the rehearsal and you will be expected to attend.
There is also seasonal concert series called the "Righteous Sounds of...", for which extra rehearsals are held. Band members wanting to perform at these concerts are required to attend the preparatory rehearsals.
If you have musical questions about any of the songs, please feel free to contact Demetrio.
How do I use this site?
- Hits: 3074
The website is intended to be a resource dedicated to helping Inspirition Band members with any questions they may have that are not covered during rehearsals and perhaps even Mass. Rehearsal time is typically focused on preparing the music for Mass, with little time for anything else.
The InspiritionBand.com website is a repository of FAQs, planners, event listings, video, and audio for the Inspirition Band at St. Michael's.
Use it to reference any of these resources. The site is searchable using the "search..." box at the top right corner of most webpages. Enter the word or words you are looking for, then press Enter. Words 3-letters or longer will be searched.
To get the full benefit of the site's resources, Inspirition Band members should register on the site. Click on "Login" from the Main Menu and fill out the registration form. Your registration will be activated shortly. Access to special areas are granted upon activation.
Due to copyright restrictions, audio files are not downloadable and can only be listened from the website.
What time is rehearsal?
- Hits: 3467
Rehearsal time is at 3:15 pm each Sunday in the sanctuary of St. Michael's Church. We will rehearse until approximately 4:45 pm.
Mass time is 5:00 pm.
Masks are currently not mandatory, but you can choose to wear one if you prefer.
Enter the church through the doors nearest to the church offices on the south side of the church building. They are on timed unlock two hours before Mass.
Please arrive as promptly as possible. But if you're late, you're late. It happens.
Dress code
- Hits: 1960
Wear what will be comfortable for you during the rehearsal and the Mass. Avoid clothing that can constrict your breathing, cause you to overheat, or restrict your movement. If you are prone to becoming chilled, wear warmer clothing; if you need to wear gloves to keep your hands warm, try to wear ones that are not too bulky or distracting.
Very casual or leisure dress is discouraged. This includes dirty jeans and revealing dress.
Singers, please wear clothing that will allow you to clap with your arms raised.
Ladies, please avoid very short skirts, as you will be sitting on high stools in front of the congregation.
Remember that we are still in church and our role is as leaders within the celebration of Mass. We want to avoid distracting from the celebration, especially since the band is situated beside the altar platform at the front of the sanctuary.
However, you will never be asked to leave because of what you wear! But please be prudent in your choices.
If you are unsure and have any questions, feel free to discuss with your bandmates and leader.
Who makes up the Inspirition Band?
- Hits: 3829
Talented individuals make up the Inspirition Band. There are people from various walks of life, age groups, and skill levels in the band. Each is selected via audition. Each has his or her own reasons for wanting to join the band. It may be an outlet to perform; it may be a method of giving to the Church; it may be a place to meet musically like-minded people; it may be a way to improve on the skills and gifts that you have been given; it may be a way to make music that you want to hear in church.
Whatever the reason, it is a desire to perform music well that is a common trait in all of our band members. In this environment, your level of skill will be sharpened. Your discipline and communication skills will be drawn upon at every rehearsal and Mass.
This type of rehearsal and performance is unlike any other musical endeavor. From the type of music, to the structure of the rehearsals, to the skills needed during performance, are all very different from, a choir, garage band, or studio performance.
